The program is six to 18 months long. It is comprised of three progressive phases that are each six months long. The men in the TLC Christian discipleship program are called students and progress one phase to the next building on and expanding what they have learned.
The Novice phase is about building new habits. The structure of the first phase is the students are told what, when and how.

The Journeyman phase is about new confidence. Putting into practice what has been learned, continuing to guide and encourage as well as taking on some staff responsibility.

The first 30 days is a blackout period. Upon a student’s promotion to Month Two, Month Three Etc., there are visitation privileges but relatives, friends, and students are expected to adhere to all applicable TLC guidelines for these privileges.
