TLC adheres to the Word of God as the authority for ultimate truth and centers all program, organizational, and staff development on that absolute truth. TLC is a registered non-profit, faith based organization for men and women 18+, governed by a Board of Directors who carries out the organization’s mission and vision through the leadership of the Executive Director and his team. TLC’s Christian discipleship program will help the men and women learn how to recover and manage new lives of hope and freedom in mind, body, and soul, through understanding and rebuilding their true self-identity and purpose found only in Jesus Christ.
Our Core Beliefs & Values
- We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ is essential
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they who are saved unto the resurrection of life and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ

MEET THE TEAM
Bob Ivins
Executive Director
Bob Ivins served as Assistant Director and, later,
Director of TLC for a total of 5 years.
For the past 24 years he has worked with,
and discipled both men and women in addiction recovery. Ten of those years involved summer construction ministry
in Russia and Ukraine with SEND International.
In December 2021, he retired after 23 years of discipleship/trades teaching ministry with Homes of Hope, Greenville, SC.

TLC was founded in 1992 by New York City Pastor and evangelist, Tom Mahairas. Pastor Tom was involved with the hippie movement and drug culture during the 1960’s, but had a life-changing experience at Word of Life when he submitted his life to Jesus Christ in 1968.

“Its all Greek 2 Me”
The Lord led Tom to a holistic approach to ministry in which the whole Gospel is shared for the whole man to the whole world. Beginning in NYC, Tom & Vicky founded Manhattan Bible Church, Manhattan Christian Academy, Transformation Life Center, New York Gospel Outreach, and the NYC Love Kitchen. Then in 1996, Tom founded CitiVision as part of a vision to bring the Gospel to cities around the world. It is through this ministry that Tom has been able follow his passion for evangelism and discipleship locally, nationally, and internationally.
